California Trip Payment Schedule

Since I've received a few inquiries, I've posted the payment schedule for the California trip here.  Also, just a reminder about using your fundraising credit towards the trip cost from Mr. Norman's previous e-mail:


Fundraising Balances Updated & Applied to Student Accounts

  • Go to the booster website and click "student accounts" in the upper right hand corner.
  • Enter your password-Your password is your Student ID immediately followed by your last name (case sensitive: i.e. 4567Norman).
  • Click on the "Finances" tab
  • Click on the "Fundraisers" tab.
  • You will find your "credit" here.

You may apply your credit on the January 18 payment only.

To apply your credit on your next trip payment do the following:

  • Subtract your credit from $400
  • Make your check out for this amount
  • Provide a note with your payment stating that you wish to use your fundraising credit as a portion of your payment. Include your signature and date.
  • Return the payment and note to Mr.Norman by January 18.

All Fundraising Balances not applied to this trip payment will be available for application to Band Camp fees for 2010.

YOU MUST COMPLETE YOUR PHOTO ORDER BY 1/20/2010!  All orders placed after that date will be subject to an archival fee.

You can email your photos to family and friends by using our Share Photo feature.

New Band Parent Mailing

The New Band Parent Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, January 28 at 7PM in the high school band room.  I am working to assemble the information packet that will be mailed to all 8th grade band students and would like your feedback on the information packet and the New Band Parent Meeting.  I'd like to know what you thought of the information provided - for example:   Was there too much in the packet, or not enough?  What would you leave out or what would you add?  Did the information make you aware of the costs involved and the time commitments?   What is the one thing you wish you had known before your student joined the band?  I have posted the contents of last year's packet to the blog so that you can review it. 

Please send any feedback to me at treasurer@dewittband.org if you have suggestions for the information packet, please get them to me before January 8.  Suggestions for the meeting are welcome up to January 20.  I appreciate your help with our efforts to provide useful information to new band families.

California Paperwork-Students

The schools required paperwork for students is attached. Please complete and return it to Mr. Norman by December 7. This is a HARD DEADLINE! Please do not ask for exceptions to this date. This paperwork must be provided to the board of education for their final approval/completion of the trip package. That requires that we submit on time. Thanks for your help!

Craft Show Thank-You and Collection of Signs

Dear Band Parents,

What an amazing weekend!!  The Pie Sale, Silent Auction and Craft Show 
were all a great success due to the hard work and dedication of so 
many parents.  We have already sent out a special thank you to the 
students for their incredible efforts.

This is a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the parents who made the Craft Show 
a success.  From the beginning of the process to turning out the 
lights at the end, you have given of your time and creativity.  We 
greatly appreciate the 'jump in do what needs to get done' attitude 
you showed.  Many of you helped with pies and cheered at the game on 
Friday and came back on Saturday for 'Round Two' to help at the Craft 
Show.  This is dedication!!  The final tally is not in yet but the 
Craft Show was a great success.  The list of people to thank is 
seemingly endless so we hope that whether you gave an idea or gave a 
day of work, you know that you are appreciated.

We'd also like you to know how much the students helped.  Many were 
there at 5:45 a.m. and some stayed for the day.  Some gave up the 
middle of their day and came back at 3:00 to help clean up.  We always 
have compliments from the vendors but this year the students seemed to 
go above and beyond.  One vendor even offered to tip the students who 
helped them!  (They donated it to the door prize money!)  We are very 
proud of the students and the way they represented not only themselves 
but the Band.

It has been a great season.

Bus information for Saturday Playoff game

Band and Cheer - Three Busses - 10:45 AM bus (ETA to Fenton 12:00)
**Band will take the trailer (will pull with a parent vehicle as Van is being used by Swim/Dive going to State Meet)

Please be dressed and ready to board busses by 10:30 am.
